Customer: Richard Cattell

Bill, over the past four years, we have purchased two Catalina yachts from Massey Yacht Sales. The experience has been excellent with both transactions; one used yacht, and a brand new Catalina that was just delivered. We would recommend Bill Wiard and Massey Yacht Sales for all your yacht purchasing needs!!

Customer: Daniel Lev

Hello Bill, I was on the boat yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see that the defective carbon monoxide alarm sensor had been replaced; four months after the warranty has expired and you are still helping me out with things on the boat, that's good service, and I thank you for it.

2002 Catalina 350

Customer: Doug and Marti Olson

We purchased a new Catalina 350 from Massey Yachts in 2002. Our sales representative, Bill Wiard made the process very easy and pain free, even providing a tour of the Catalina factory in Largo, Florida. Over the past 8 years he has always been available to answer questions and address any concerns we might have. Bill and the Massey Yacht team will always be the first choice for our Yachting needs in the future.

Sometimes dreams do come true; well it did for my wife and I a couple years ago. I was thinking of moving to Tampa/St Pete area following my retirement from FedEx located in Memphis, TN. We had a dream to find a place that was always warm, had great water for boating and a place to sail well on a whim I found myself at the Harborage Marina, and met Bill Wiard of Massey Yacht Sales. He immediately took me under his wing, talked to me about sailboats, promised to send me available boats for sail when I returned to Memphis, and said he could make "it " my dream a reality and he did. We actually purchased a brand new 36 ft Hunter Sailboat at a local boat show in St Pete, he made sure it was equipped the way a new sailor would need it; oh did I tell you we had never sailed before? No problem, Bill arranged for us to meet a Captain who taught us on our own boat, in our surrounding waters, and conditions that is the way to do it It again being living your dream we have since cruised all the west coast of Florida and spent many wonderful hours on Tampa Bay...we even did a little racing and we have met great people at Massey, who have always treated us like family so if anyone asks me about sailing or buying a boat, there is only one place to go. Massey Yacht Sales and of course Bill.

2009 Hunter 38

Customer: Bob and Barbara Harter

A few years ago, my wife, Barbara, and I decided to go look at cruising sailboats. I had just read an article in the Sunday Tampa Tribune about the Catalina 309 winning Cruising World's Boat of the Year Award, and was reminded of my promise made to my young bride made too many years earlier that one day we would invest in a cruising sailboat.

I had grown up on Dolphins, Sunfish, and Flying Scots, and had taken Barbara out for a few day sails before we were married.

On this particular day, a Sunday, we showed up at Regatta Point Marina unannounced, and entered the offices of Massey Yacht Sales and Service. There, we encountered Scott Pursell, and asked whether he would be willing to show us a few boats.

Even though we had no appointment, Scott told us he'd be delighted to show us any boat we wanted to see.

We started with the Hunter 36 and finished with the Catalina 309. Scott asked us about our intentions (we intended to purchase), and about our timeline (within about two years).

We told Scott that because we weren't going to buy for two years, we probably wouldn't be on his radar for a while, to which he replied that two years is not outside the norm for couples shopping for a cruising sailboat. "Not to worry," he said.

At that point, we bid farewell, and we thought that was the last we would ever hear from Scott.

We were wrong.

Over the next few months, Scott rarely communicated with us, other that to send us the occasional Massey Yachts Open House message.

One day, however, Scott sent us a different message. An opportunity had presented itself to purchase a new Hunter 38, still being completed in Alachua, Florida, at an unheard of savings.

As a pilot, I was on the road in Philadelphia, when Barbara called me with the news.

Would I be interested in taking a look at the 38, a model which we had never before seen?

Absolutely!

Scott made all the arrangements, and when I got home, we met Scott in Alachua to tour the Hunter factory, and take a look at the boat, which we now call our own.

Since then, Scott has made us feel more like family than friends, and we do feel like we are members of the Massey Yacht family.

Since we took delivery of our Hunter, we've kept her at a marina in St. Petersburg. We feel totally comfortable asking the Massey Yacht folks in St. Pete for advice or information about our boat, and they are always happy to help.

Barbara and I are happy to recommend Massey Yacht Sales and Scott Pursell in particular, to anyone contemplating a boat purchase.

2007 Catalina 42

Customer: Ted Schmidt

My purchase of a Catalina 42 was handled very smoothly by the staff of Massey Yachts. My broker, Brad Crabtree, was very professional and made the purchase an enjoyable experience. The service staff is always there to take care of any service needs. The folks at Massey Yachts certainly are the best!

2008 Island Packet 465

Customer: Rob Loeffler, MD

I have owned to 2 sailboats over the last 25 years but never purchased a new one. My ideas of yacht brokers were based on the movie "Captain Ron," obviously not so flattering. However, from the first meeting with Brad at Massey the experience was nothing but cordial, honest, friendly and informative. I never felt pressured and Brad had the ability to involve other expert members of the staff from Massey Yacht if I needed more technical or financial information to make decisions. I ended with a beautiful IP 465 which I love. The upgrades were done extremely professional and of high quality. Brad was even there at 0700 to help me cast off and sail south solo with my new boat.

I just wanted to thank you for your help yesterday. It does pay off to be persistent with good follow up. I had no intention of buying yesterday but as you witnessed Judy had other ideas. I know we got a great boat and I know that Massey will prepare the boat for us as if it just came from the factory. I have bought boats and many new aircraft (8) ranging in price from 5M to 39M. My experience buying a boat from you was the the easiest and most professional that I have ever had. This is difficult for me to understand because I was dealing with my own money. You and Ed make a great team. I will relay my experience to Ed also.

Again, Judy and I want to THANK YOU for your help. We will see you on the 20th.

As you well know, we've been with the Moorings since 1987. ...But, when all is said and done, it's very hard to recapture that personal feeling that we had when we bought our first boat from you. ...As a matter of fact, we just told the story of how we had never even sailed when we bought our first boat from you! And, I'm so pleased to have heard from you. We will always be grateful for the introduction that you gave us to sailing and we hope to keep that as a part of our lives if everything works out.

2008 Hunter 38

Customer: Bob and Barbara Harter

Last year my wife and I purchased a new Hunter 38. She has been a great boat.

We have been on the boat in our slip at The Harborage Marina since Friday night, and today needed to use the a/c due to the humidity. When we turned the air on, it ran for a few seconds before shutting down and giving us a high-pressure pump fail message at both units.

After confirming the raw water intake was open and the strainer was clean, I ran over to your sales office at the marina. Bill Wiard accompanied me back to the boat and in about 30 minutes of troubleshooting, Bill determined there was an air lock in the supply line to the pump.

He opened the pump at the impeller until water flowed out, reassembled the pump, and got us back up and running.

It was hot and sticky below, so we were all sweating. We thanked Bill profusely, but wanted you to know how much we appreciate his assistance.

You have some great people working for you.

Thanks.

When you're seriously looking for a 50' boat you've got a pretty good idea of what you want, and we couldn't have asked for anything better than Frank Hamilton and Massey Yacht Sales. Frank knows his product, immediately sized up our needs, made constructive suggestions and put together an attractive deal in a matter of days. Within a week Massey had our trade-in surveyed and had hired a captain to sail her to Palmetto. Frank kept in daily contact throughout the build and commissioning process and emailed lots of photos so we always knew what was going on and participated in the fun. The delivery was smooth (they even stored all our gear from the trade and placed it on the new boat), and post-sale support is good. All in all, both Frank Hamilton and Massey delivered more than expected.

2010 Hunter 45 DS

Customer: Steven Busch

Bill,

We just competed the purchase of a Hunter 45DS from Massey Yacht Sales. From the first time we spoke by phone to the completion of our transaction, Bill Wiard could not have been more helpful and made the process of identifying and buying a sail boat a very pleasant experience. He helped guide our search and decision process and found the perfect boat for us.

From the service side, Jim Beck did an outstanding job in readying our boat for delivery and ensuring the boat was in perfect condition.

Ed Massey was also very involved in the process and his commitment to customer satisfaction was evident at every step along the way.

I would recommend the highly experienced team at Massey Yacht Sales to anyone in the market to buy or sell a sail boat. They provided us with an outstanding experience and we are very happy we chose Massey.
