Ed Massey
Owner
2010 marks my thirty third year in the yacht sales and outfitting business. I've enjoyed everyday of my career and meeting the over 3500 couples that have purchased their yachts from Massey Yacht Sales. We are proud of our company and the sales, service and administration team. Working with the many folks that we have met over the years has added a great deal to the lives of everyone at Massey.

Rusty has been sailing for about 45 years. His first sailboat ride was on the family boat in Galveston Bay, Texas, and then he improved on his sailing skills through the Ragnots Program at the Houston Yacht Club. Bought his first boat a Thistle at the age of 14 by saving his money from a paper route and mowing yards. Sailed up and down the Gulf of Mexico and raced in the Harvest Moon and Vera Cruz. Joined the Navy and sailed the seven seas. Then became a radio DJ in the Dallas/Ft Worth market. Went back to sailing by rigging boats and formed his own company "I-B-Rigging" which included yacht deliveries. Then started selling Catalina, Jeanneaus and J-Boats at Grandpappy Point Marina. Then moved west to San Diego to work for H&S Yachts selling Jeanneau, Catalina and Hunters. Sailed most of the west coast of the United States then out to Hawaii. Raced in the Trans Pac and Newport to Ensenada, Mexico. While on the west coast also sailed to exotic ports such as San Lucas and La Paz and Puerto Vallarta Mexico. Then moved to the Florida's west coast to join Massey Yacht Sales & Service. Ed and Rusty have known each other for more years than they can remember. It just made sense to join Ed Massey's sales team. Rusty lives in Stuart with his wife and the grandkids who stay for the whole summer.

Capt. John is from the East Coast and started his water career as a child, from home ports in Chautauqua, NY and Stonington, CT. After college, he moved from the Atlantic to the Pacific and sailed from Santa Monica Yacht Club in Marina del Rey, CA and later from Channel Islands Yacht Club, in Oxnard, CA for over 25 years.
As a California resident, he has kept a cruising sailboat in The Bahamas for the past 10 years. His own boat, "On Assignment," is a 42 foot late model sloop and his home port now is Stuart, FL. He is a member of the Seven Seas Cruising Association, and the Channel Islands Yacht Club.
He is a USCG 100 ton Master, with sailing and towing endorsements, STCW-95, MMD, and TWIC. He also holds an additional deck USCG license as Radio Officer, now more commonly known as Electronics Officer on large commercial ships.
In new or used, his goal is to perfectly match the buyer to the boat. As a veteran cruiser, he understands both the vessel and the systems that allow for a safe, comfortable, fun-filled passages a float.

Growing up in St. Petersburg Beach Florida, John learned early how to work as a team, sailing and racing with his Dad and brothers. For the past 35 years he has been involved in building, sailmaking, rigging, buying, selling and sailing sailboats of all sizes. John met his wife sailing and lives in Jupiter. They have a very active 5 year old son, Robert, who already is driving the boat! Also Robert's two older sisters, Jessica and Kerstyn love to go sailing with their Dad whenever they can get away from work and school. John is an active member of Palm Beach Sailing Club and has worked as their Adult Sailing Instructor, Junior Laser coach and annually coordinates a regatta. John loves the old classic designs, and also has a passion for promoting sailing and likes to get out for a little competitive racing now and then! John's experience helps sailors discover what equipment and gear will work well with their type sailing. John likes to build lasting relationships with his customers, is a good listener, and is looking forward to helping you find your next sailboat that fits your sailing dreams.
